SHIB on Solana: Contract Address and Fake SHIB Token Checks

October 8, 2026 • By SolPurge Team

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is now trading on Solana. The ticker is not new. Other Solana tokens already use the name SHIB, so the mint address is the only reliable check before you buy, bridge, or clean a balance out of your wallet.

SHIB on Solana went live on October 4

Sunrise, a listing gateway launched by Wormhole Labs, announced the listing at 16:05 UTC on October 4, 2026. The Shiba Inu account confirmed it five minutes later. The official Solana account followed at 16:11 UTC. Solana Compass reported both confirmations.

PEPE had already gone live through Sunrise on September 18, 2026. ApeCoin followed through Sunrise on September 22, 2026. Each listing leaves the same job for holders: match one mint, and ignore the copies.

Sunrise called one mint the canonical SHIB on Solana. Its October 4 posts did not name which bridge carried this listing. Use the mint address. Do not guess the route.

The SHIB Solana contract address

Sunrise published this mint and called it the canonical SHIB on Solana:

shib5gSoVKPjwkXrxRk7SbQFzb2R9rQB3TgQWYX4RwW

The Solana account told readers to verify it on tokens.xyz. That page lists this mint as Shiba Inu (SHIB).

A mainnet account lookup on October 8, 2026 showed three facts worth checking yourself:

  • The mint is a standard SPL Token account. Its owner is the SPL Token program (TokenkegQfeZyiNwAJbNbGKPFXCWuBvf9Ss623VQ5DA), not Token-2022.
  • It uses 4 decimals.
  • Freeze authority is unset. Mint authority is set.

A set mint authority means some account can still mint more of this token. Sunrise did not name the bridge, so that authority is not proof of a mint-and-burn route. It is not a reason to reject this mint, and it is not a reason to trust a different one.

The address starts with shib. Compare the full string. Then paste that full address into your wallet or swap app instead of searching the ticker.

On October 4, a Solana Compass token search found seven other Solana tokens using the SHIB ticker, including an older wrapped version. None of them is this mint.

How to spot a fake SHIB token on Solana

Unofficial tokens using the SHIB name were already on Solana when this listing went live. A fake SHIB token on Solana usually fails a direct comparison:

A familiar name or a verification badge is not the check. Badges and tickers can point at a different asset. Supply and holder counts move, and a busy ticker can belong to another project. Open the mint on tokens.xyz and compare the full address.

Do not open links stored in token metadata. The spam-token guide explains why those links are the part that puts the wallet at risk.

A fake token still locks a SOL deposit

A Solana token account stores tokens for one mint and one owner. Receiving the official SHIB opens one account. Receiving a fake SHIB opens a different one. An airdrop you never bought still creates that account.

Every token account locks a small SOL rent deposit. Rent here is a refundable bond for storage, not a fee that is spent. SIMD-0437 is cutting that deposit in steps, so this post does not quote a current SOL amount. When an empty token account is closed, Solana returns the lamports in that account, including the storage deposit. The balance has to be zero before a normal token account can close. Solana's close account guide describes that rule.

Hiding the token in your wallet does not close the account. The deposit stays locked. The same leftover accounts build up after swaps, mints, and old airdrops, which is covered in why empty token accounts accumulate.

What you can clean up

SolPurge does not burn tokens. Apart from wrapped SOL accounts, which closing unwraps, SolPurge only closes token accounts with a zero balance. To remove a spam or fake balance, burn it in a tool that can burn, and only after you have checked the full mint address and confirmed it is not the official SHIB mint. Close the account only after that balance is zero. The SOL that comes back is the deposit that was locked in that account. SolPurge charges its 6% fee on that reclaimed SOL.

Two limits matter for SHIB:

  • The official mint is standard SPL Token. After its balance is zero, SolPurge can close the empty account. Do that only if you intend to get rid of the balance. If you hold this SHIB on purpose, leave the account alone.
  • SolPurge does not support Token-2022 yet. It cannot close a Token-2022 token account, including a fake that uses that program.

For a wider pass over spam, empty accounts, and connected apps, use the Solana wallet cleanup checklist. More wallet guides are on the blog.

Match the full mint before you trade. If a SHIB you never bought is sitting in the wallet, treat it as spam: burn it only when you are sure it is not the official mint, then close the empty account and take the deposit back. SolPurge keeps a 6% fee on that reclaimed SOL.
